Chapter Twelve

Seth woke the next morning to an empty bed. The smell of bacon being cooked and coffee brewing pulled him from his warm bed. He opened his eyes and could still see the indention of where Caleb had been laying the previous night. He leaned down and took a deep breath. The intoxicating scent of sweat and sex filled his nose, causing his dick to harden.

Ignoring his growing cock, Seth climbed out of bed. He pulled on a pair of flannel pajama bottoms. After relieving his bladder, he headed toward the sweet smell of breakfast being cooked in his kitchen.

Caleb stood at the stove frying the bacon and sipping coffee out of a mug. His brown hair stood out in all directions and his creamy white skin seemed to glow. A small smile graced his lips and Seth could hear the soft humming coming from Caleb. He looked absolutely happy and that warmed Seth from the inside out.

He would never have known about Caleb’s past, and why would he? They had just met, but all that didn’t seem to matter. Last night his mate needed him to listen and Seth did. He offered his advice and it seemed to help. Caleb was a good man. Sometimes things happened in life and no one’s to blame. Seth was glad that he knew more about Caleb, it only made their bond grow stronger.

There was one thing that bothered him and that was that Caleb would want to know more about his past. Seth didn’t like talking about his father’s death or his old pack. To him it was ancient history, but his mate had bared his soul to him the previous night and the logical thing to do would be to share his past, but Seth didn’t think it was relevant to them. So what? His father died and he chose to leave pack life for fear of having to live under someone else’s rule. Seth wasn’t going back to that life. He liked the quiet solitude of living out here in the wilderness. He had everything he needed. He just needed to convince Caleb to stay with him.

“Morning!” Caleb’s cheerful voice sang out.

Seth smiled at his mate as he walked forward to wrap his arms around Caleb’s trim waist. He glided his fingers up the defined abdominal muscles that made up his mate’s strong torso. The smooth skin felt like silk under his fingertips. Seth loved that no hair grew on Caleb’s chest. He liked the feel of nothing but skin under his touch.

“Stop it.” Caleb laughed and turned to face him. “You tickling me is distraction and I need to finish making breakfast.”

“Maybe I just want to eat you for breakfast,” Seth said with a wolfish grin. He leaned down and nipped at Caleb’s shoulder. “You’re so god damn delicious. I’ll never get enough of you.”

“Seth… Shit!” Caleb lunged forward then spun back toward the stove. “Damn the grease popped me in the back.” Caleb rubbed one hand over his back while using his other hand to flip the bacon over.
